Hopkinsville, KY 42240-8838Served as Ensign and Lt. in the 1st Virginia Regiment during the revolutionary war (see Heltman's Historical Register of Continental Army). He was also a member of Society of the Cinncinati in Virginia.

Around 1800 William P. Quarles and Anne moved to Bedford County, VA. 1809 moved again to White Plains, Putnam County, Tennessee. William was murdered on April 2, 1814.

Above information was taken from "Tennessee Cousins: A History of TN" by Worth S. Ray, page 69.

In 1831, a government marker was placed at the grave of Wm. Quarles in the family cemetery just off the Old Walton Road, 3 miles east of Cookeville, TN.
