"George Goodloe was born at Aspal, Lancashire, England, in 1639, and coming to America entered land in Middlesex county, Virginia, May 28, 1674. There he passed away about 1710."

*Thomas Goodloe of Aspull, Lancaster County, England, was the son of Robert Goodloe and Ann Ghererd Goodloe, descended from an early line of royal Welsh ancestry. There is record of his having registered his family arms in 1581. His son was:

*I. Thomas Goodloe II, who registered his arms in 1613. There is also record that
Thomas Goodloe II made an oath of allegiance to Queen Elizabeth against the
machinations of Mary, Queen of Scots. His son was:
*1. George Goodloe, b. 1639, d. 1710. He came to America in 1674, and was
the founder of our branch of the family. His son was:

*a. George Godloe II, b. 1701, d. 1741, m. Diana Minor, b. July 13, 1724,
whose forebears came to England in the train of William the Conqueror.
Their sons were:

1. Robert Goodloe.

*2. Rev. Henry Goodloe, b. 1730, d. 1799, m. September 27, 1751,
Frances Diana Kemp. He was born in Carolina County, Va., and
was pastor of Pyney Branch Church in Spottysylvania County
and Scanots Church near the same place. During the Revolution,
he was sergeant of Virginia Cavalry under Capt. John Rogers
from January 1, 1782, to February 13, 1782. In January, 1787,
he patented a large tract of land in Bourbon County, Ky., aggregating
8,333 acres. Among his children wer
