A famous member of the Tucker family was the Reverend Daniel Tucker, the subject of the song, "Old Dan Tucker."

He lies buried in Elbert County, on a high bluff, overlooking the waters of the Savannah River. Although the song regarding him would lead to the belief that he was accustomed to drinking far too much; such was not, in reality, the case. He was a highly respected minister, of excellent family, and a man of wealth. Such songs were often sung about the time of Daniel Tucker's ministry regarding men of prominence and almost without exception the sentiments expressed were totally without foudation. The marker of soapstone which stands at the head of Daniel Tucker's grave bears this inscription:

Sakred to the memory of
Rev. Daniel Tucker, Born Feb. 14, 174
Dp. this life April the 7, 1818. Age 78.

The bluff on which Daniel Tucker lies buried is located on Point Lookout, so named for the reason that a watchman was often stationed there, it being the highest point in the surorunding territory, to advise the people of the vicinity, by loud blasts on a conch shell, of the approach of the supply boats from Augusta. Mrs. Annie C. McIntosh Wall recalls, as a young woman, directly after the War Between the States, gathering fresh water mussels at its base in company with her brother, William M. McIntosh Junior.
