Only one of four brothers to survive service in the Confederate army. He was injured at the battle of Wilderness Road, May 9, 1864. A rifle ball was lodged in his sinus and many years later was dislodged when he sneezed. He was in many battles and was with General Lee at Appomattox at the surrender.
