William's family was on 1830 Green County, TN census, served on a jury in 1828 in Greene Co., TN & was a corporal, enlisting November 13, 1814 under Colonel Bayless & Captain Joseph Hale in the 4th Regt., East Tennessee Militia. By 1840 William was living in Johnson County, Missouri, where he served as a member of the first county court. The original Johnson County, Missouri land patent for William is dated May 6, 1839, another dated December 31, 1840. William's will was dated August 7, 1843 & probated December 2, 1844.
