The following statement is from June Ferguson in July 2000:
December 1917 or January 1918 --- moved to Mathiston, MS area
1920-21 - farmed Dixon place in Sunflower Cnty.
Between 1918 and 1925 - lived at Belzoni and in a house on the highway south of cotton compress at Drew. Sometime before 1920 moved to house on Quiver River. During time on Quiver River Vollie and John Ed Ferguson lived with us for short time. O.B. and O.D. Ferguson also lived with us for a period of time. Rufe Ferguson drove car to take T. A. Ferguson to the doctor in Ruleville when he got sick March 15th. Thomas Ferguson died on June 2 1925. Doctors called his illness gangrene of the lungs (cancer?).
In October 1925, Bertha Ferguson bought 42+- acres on the Daugherty Bayou in Sunflower County just south of Drew. We moved to our new home along with John Ed and Rufus Ferguson.
In 1927 Bertha married A. S. McBride - divorced him in 1932. Returned to her previous married name of Ferguson.
Around 1929 - 1930 I went to Grandma and Grandpa Hamilton's house north of Drew. At that time MaryBelle had already married Jesse "Buddy" Brooks
