Notes for John Wesley Hackelman

The following information was received in an email message from Harry Hackelman on Feb 12, 2001

John was my great grandfather. I am the grandson of Harry Bertram. John's father's name was William and his grandfather's name was Thomas. Note the first son born to John, William. When my wife was expecting our first child we knew he was to be a son and I told my grandparents the name we had chosen, Thomas William. Grandpa told me that Thomas was his grandfather's name and William was his father's name. This was in 1965. He showed me the old family Bible with those names in it. I hope this helps. I posted the same information but I believe I might have inverted the names. I used to sit for hours when Pop would start telling family history. John Wesley had a drayage business when he liven in Buffalo, Ok. He would haul fright from the Fort there to Fort Hayes and other places in Kansas. I have a few pictures showing the old "Soddy house" in pre-statehood Oklahoma. After John died in 1907 Grandpa moved back to Missouri. It was in the northern part of the state. He met my grandmother in Illinois, he was a close friend of Grandma's brother Frank. They were married in Illinois. I hope some of this might be go help. If you have any pictures that you would like to share, they would be greatly prized. Best to you, Harry Hackelman
