Elisha enlisted in the Illinois Thirteenth Infantry, Company D on May 24, 1861 as a Sergeant. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on May 16, 1862. He was killed in battle.
His residence at the time of enlistment was Rock Island, IL
It is believed that upon his death, his widow, Hannah, married Elisha's brother, James.
