Family legend is that Sarah Elizabeth fell in love with William Stacy, but her sister Rebecca married him & Sarah vowed to have his children. 1880 Powell Co., Ky. census, Sarah is living with John Ashley Proffitt; 1860 Owsley Co., Ky. census, living with Thomas Hampton & her daughter Sylvia. Sarah is listed as widow & spinster.
