In the Name of God the Creator almercifull (sic) I George Tuckerthe elder of Lunenburg County in sound and disposing mine and memory make andordain this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following thatis to say I recommend my soul to almighty God hoping to obtain mercy andsalvation through the merits and mediation of my dear redeemer blessedforever, I give to my Dear beloved Wife Catharine Tucker the use of my Land andPlantation whereon I now live Containing about two hundred acres be thesame more or less; as also my negroes and stock of horses Cattle sheep &Hogs, Beds and furniture, Tables, chairs, pewter, and all the rest of myHousehold furniture and Plantation utensils for and during her natural life orwidowhood and after her decease or marriage then I give devise and bequeaththe same as followeth to wit, My negro Ned to be divided equally between mysons Joel, Lew & Robert, I give devise and bequeath my said Tract of Landimmediately after the Death or marriage of my said Wife to be equallydivided between my two sons, Joel Tucker and Robert Tucker to them I give and totheir heirs respectively forever. I will and desire that after the death ofmy said wife my negro woman Linda be sold by my executors or such of them asmay be then acting for the best price that can be had, and the same in caseof her marriage and the money arising from such sale after paying allmy cash Legacies the balance if any to be paid to my son Lew Tucker towhom I give it and his heirs forever I give devise and bequeath my negro GirlMoll and all her increase to my Daughter Milly Clay, and her heirs forever. Igive devise and bequeath my negro Girl Sue and all her increase to myDaughter Biddy Tucker and her Heirs forever. I give Devise and bequeath mynegro boy Isaac to my son Lew Tucker and his Heirs forever. I give and bequeathto my son William Tucker and my Daughter Fanny Coleman one shilling eachhaving provided for them already. I give devise and bequeath unto mysons Henry Tucker, George Tucker and Joseph Tucker, the sum of Five poundscash to be paid them after the decease or marriage of my said Wife asbefore directed to them or their Heirs forever and it my particular meaning andintent that in the Division of Land as before directed between my sons Joel andRobert my said son Robert Tucker have his hundred acres to include theplantation and all the rest and residue of my estate real and Personal ofwhatever kind to be equally divided among my five youngest children to wit, JoelTucker, Lew Tucker, Robert Tucker, Milly Clay and Biddy Tucker to them Igive it respectively and their heirs forever. I nominate constitute andappoint my said Wife Catharine Tucker to be executrix together with my sonsWilliam and Joel Tucker executors of this my last Will and Testament anddesire that my estate be not appraised hereby revoking all former Wills by meat any time heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have sealed published anddeclared this to be my last Will and Testament the Twenty fifth day ofSeptember in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty. Signedby George Tucker (by his mark) and witnessed by Ward Hudson (by his mark),Richard Ingram, John Hutson and David Stokes, Jr.I hereby annex the following as Codicil to my last Will andTestament The five Pounds by my devised my son George he being Dead I deviseto my Four last children Namely Obedience, Joel, Lew and Robert to beequally divided. My negro boy Jack I give and bequeath to my three sons namelyJoel Tucker, Lew Tucker Robert Tucker and to their heirs forever my wifeexecutrix and Joel Tucker executor hereto. Signed by George Tucker (by hismark). Signed Sealed and Published in the Presence of this the 30th day ofDecember 1783. Witnessed by Nelson Tucker and William Tucker.At a Court held for Lunenburg County the 11th day of march 1784.The within written last Will and Testament of George Tucker deced. togetherwith a Codicil thereto was exhibited in Court by Catharine Tucker andJoel Tucker the executrix and executor therein Named and was proved by theoaths of the witnesses thereto Subscribed and ordered to be Recorded, And onthe motion of the said executrix and executor (who made oath according to lawcertificate is granted them for obtaining probate of the said Will in dueform) they giving security whereupon they together with John _________their Security entered into and acknowledged Bond according to law.Will Book 3, page 153, Lunenburg County, Virginia
